Good morning. With Christmas just a few days away I wanted to share an easy dessert idea that you can pull off for any party. My favorite dessert hack is to hit up the grocery store bakery for cupcakes and then elevate them with something pretty. This time of year, I like to add sugared cranberries and rosemary. I can remember my mom sugaring the cranberries when I was little and I always loved the look. For warmer months, raspberries and mint look perfect on top.
These are so simple but really make a pretty impact for a holiday party. Of course if you are a baker, then making your own cupcakes is wonderful. I like to keep it simple and quick (especially if I am hosting) so Publix cupcakes it is. They are scrumptious. Just ask your bakery for vanilla cupcakes with white frosting. I usually ask right when I go in and they have them ready by the time I am ready to check out. So convenient and easy.
You can sugar your cranberries and rosemary the day before or same day (just allow for a couple of hours . . . all hands off time). It really is simple and after doing it once, you’ll be hooked.
SUGARED CRANBERRIES & ROSEMARY
- 1 cup sugar (divided in half)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup cranberries (or however many you need)
Combine 1/2 cup sugar + 1/2 cup of water on the stove. Heat until the sugar is disolved. About 2-3 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool for about 10 minutes.
Add cranberries to the syrup and stir. Allow them to sit for 1 hour.
Remove cranberries with a slotted spoon onto parchment paper. Let sit 1 hour.
Sprinkle sugar on top and roll until coated. Let dry and garnish away!
Same instructions for rosemary sprigs.
The sugared cranberries taste great! Let me know if you give them a try.
