Take Five {Five Minute Projects Day 2}

June 7, 2011 by Courtney 20 Comments

Welcome back for day 2 of our Take Five series. If you missed yesterday’s great projects you can check them out here. Today I am joined by my dear Cassie of hi sugarplum! and the sweet sweet Michaela from Michaela Noelle Designs.   Let’s get started! Idea #1: Personalized Drink Tags If you have been with me for a while, than you know that I love all things personalized. And I have a little rule that when I entertain I like to have at least one thing that has a personal touch. It is so super easy and makes guests feel special. You can either hand write these tags or print names on the computer. IMG_8103 After cutting your tags, simply hole punch and slip a fun ribbon through. I know that there are a million darling wine charms out there, but there is something fun about having the names on the drinks. Not to mention it is free and only takes five minutes. IMG_8113 Don’t ever throw away your scrap pieces of ribbon. They are great for this. I like to have the names ready to go and sitting in a pretty glass nearby so that guests can easily find their name. The font I used for these is called Suzy’s Hand. It is one of my favorite’s that Megan introduced me to because it looks like someone wrote the names out. IMG_8125 Idea #2: Inexpensive and Quick Room Art Hi Sugarplum! Miss Cassie from hi sugarplum busted out some amazing art for her daughter’s room. It instantly added great color and pattern to her gallery wall. pink alphabet art   Being the smarty pants that she is, she used glossy Madeline Weinrib {one of my all time favorites!} ads to create these. She took out the existing text and added her own. alphabet art 100_4364   100_4363 100_4366 You can read Cassie’s full post right here. And because Cassie is a rock star, she has provided me with the three prints that you can use to make your own. If you would like them, shoot me an email and I can forward them to you {I tried to make them downloadable . . .but to no avail!} Idea #3: Mason Jar Vases Michaela Noelle

Hello to Courtney’s sweet readers! I’m Michaela from Michaela Noelle Designs and I’m going to be sharing a fun way to embellish ordinary mason jars and glass bottles…
Materials: Mason Jar Ribbon or Burlap Hot Glue Crystal or Flower
Here’s what you do: Grab your ribbon or burlap.  In my case, I used this strip of burlap.  Wrap it around your mason jar as many times as desired and hot glue it in the back.  I found this pretty crystal embellishment to put on the front of the jar, but you can use anything you’d like!  A fabric flower may be cute, too!
Finish it off with some fresh flowers:
And you’re done!
Idea #4: Glass Bottles Turned Vintage Vases
Materials: Glass Bottles Puff Paint Spray Paint
Here’s What You Do: Put your design on the glass bottle in puff paint and allow to dry:
Once the puff paint is dry, spray paint your bottles.  I chose a nice crisp white for mine!
With drying time, it takes a little longer than 5 minutes (: But the actual time you spend puff painting and spray painting is no more than 5 for each step.  An easy way to repurpose old bottles you would otherwise recycle. Thanks for having me, Court.  I’m loving all these 5 minute projects!    xoxoPhotobucket

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… And I am thrilled to be dishin’ on one of my favorite designer’s {Tobi Fairley} over at Laura’s gorgeous blog. OMG! I LOVE that mason jar! My mom and I were just looking for a project we could use our old earings on (you know, the ones that only have one left and you can't find the matching pair?) THIS will be the perfect embellishment for the mason jar vase! LOVE IT!
