This year was the second year that I have hosted our mother-daughter tea. It’s a day I look forward to all year long. My daughter at 4 1/2 was HUGE into the planning of it. Right up until the last minute! In fact, five minutes before the guests were to arrive she was coming up with more games and things for the girls to do. The girl has party planning in her future for sure. I will show you all the {VERY PINK} details of the party later this week, but I wanted to share a few of the treats we made for the guests. m i n i c u p c a k e s ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. While tea sandwiches and yogurt parfaits were on the main menu for the little girls, it was cupcakes that had eyes looking like saucers. I made mini strawberry cupcakes and iced them with the plastic bag trick. Snipping a hole in the bottom makes great swirls. And my little one insisted on pink jelly bellies on top.
p a r t y f a v o r s ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. For party favors this year, my daughter chose super cute cookie wands. A dear friend of ours who came to the tea last year gave us the book.
We changed the stars to hearts. I used store bought cookie dough {we all know baking isn’t my thing!}. After rolling it out and cutting out the heart shapes, I put the cookie sticks about an inch into each one. You actually bake the cookies with the sticks in them. Who knew?? { I learned that the hard way and ruined the first batch!}. As soon as they cooled, I used the candy melts as icing {great trick as it hardens so quickly so that you can wrap them up without icing getting everywhere!}. Just follow the melting directions and ice cookies as you would with any other icing.
I put a clear treat bag over them, tied them with a bow, and had each girl’s name printed out on a circle tag {made with Microsoft Publisher . . my favorite program!}. I cut out the circles and hole punched them to attach to each cookie wand.

So cute! I'll bet that was fun for the two of you. Boys aren't that into teas so I have to live through my friends who have girls. Can't wait to see your curtains.

Darling!!! Love the minis!
I think the mother-daughter tea is the sweetest idea and how special for you two to start that tradition. Could I borrow your daughter to help in the planning of my niece's bridal shower? Your daughter seems to know what she's doing and pink is my niece's color, as well. Cute cupcakes and cookie wands and I love the polka dot cupcake liners. You two put on quite the tea! I look forward to more photos.
Well now you're just getting all ridiculous over here with your talent. Seriously. Too cute.
so cute!!! do you use any kind of plastic bag…like a ziploc or something? I've got sloan's party on the brain, so i'm paying close attention to what you're doing!
