Today’s post is a fun one for me because I partnered with Walmart to share how we have incorporated some of our favorite decor elements without spending a fortune. We have some really fun pieces sprinkled throughout our home and each one is something we love. If you have been with us for some time, you know I believe in mixing high and low and these are all tried and true pieces.
BEADED CHANDELIER
When we first moved in, this space had a very ornate and heavy chandelier. We lightened things up with this beaded one. It reminds me so much of the high end version. My sister used it in her home over her bathtub and it looks incredible. This is a good one, my friends.
TEXTURED PILLOW
The minute this pillow arrived, I bought two more. I actually bought it for our backyard (and am using it out there) but I had to show you how great it looks inside. It adds so much texture and warmth. That’s why I ordered another one to use on this sofa. And are you ready for this? This darling pillow is $15!
I just love how much interest it has and the size (21″). I have a feeling these pillows won’t last long so if you are looking for some texture, grab this one. This is another really pretty option.
WOVEN LAMP
This sweet little lamp is under $40 and so charming. I also like the idea of using these on bedside tables.
STONEWARE BOWLS
Hands down one of my favorite Walmart purchases to date are these stoneware bowls. They are quite heavy and a fantastic size.
We keep the bowls on our open shelves (love the look) but use them all the time. They are our go-to bowl for poke nights, soups, and pasta.
SETTING A PRETTY TABLE
I grew up with a mom who loved setting a pretty table. While I tend to keep things simple, I do love making the table inviting and pretty. This plaid runner is darling. And you know I love a good stripe, so these napkin rings are nice to have on hand (set is $7). These leather ones are so fun during the cooler months. You can grab a mix and match set of the plaid pattern here for $35.
ADDING A TOUCH OF GREEN
Real greenery is always my favorite choice, but it’s not always practical. It’s nice to sprinkle in a faux plant here and there to add the color.
This one ($15) comes in this darling basket and is really pretty.
OUTDOOR FAVORITES
We’ve had these plaid throws for two years now. I use them most nights when we sit out by the fire. There is something so lovely about a classic plaid pattern. They were out of stock for quite some time so I am happy to see that they are once again available.
I shared all about our console table in this outdoor post. This has been such a good piece. It looks like wood from far away but is actually metal. Because its weatheproof, it’s been great on our patio. We store our spa towels in it and use it when we entertain for drinks and snacks. The planters are another great Walmart find ($17). The striped towels were a great buy. They wash and dry beautifully and the kids have been using them nonstop.

I hope these ideas inspire you to add decor in your home without breaking the bank. It’s been fun incorporating a nice mix into our spaces.

I have a question about the outdoor console table. Do you have a problem with dust, bugs, etc. with your towels? I’ve been eyeing the cabinet for awhile but am hesitate to buy it for those reasons. I’m just curious what your experience has been.

That’s a great question. So far no. We keep them in the bottom basket. Having said that, we use the hot tub almost daily – or my daughter is heading to the pool and grabs a towel. They are on constant rotation so we haven’t seen that as a problem. If we weren’t using them for a period of time, I might bring them in. I hope that helps. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Thank you for showing attractive items that are not priced exorbitantly! I love the cream colored ‘knotted’ pillow, but have questions. Is the cover zippered? Does it take an insert? Any info on cleaning? I read what I could find but came up empty. Happy belated birthday, too!
Courtney says
You are very welcome. And that is a good question. I just looked at it has about 7 inches of zipper . . it is not a pillow insert, but stuffing. So do be honest, not sure I would be swapping it out with an insert as the opening is quite small. I would look at is a decorative pillow and not one that would be washed. Hope that helps.

Love your blog and classic style. I’ll definitely check out these items but also wondering about the floor lamp in the second picture. My husband is also an ND grad and found himself years later moving back to South Bend for a new job. I joked he planned to return and be near the campus. We lived about 10 minutes away from the campus when we first married. We miss our walks/jogs, the Grotto and of course the games! We now live in Charlotte and thought it was great you visited Lake Norman!

Thank you! That was a very lucky HomeGoods find back in the day. I think Pottery Barn has a similar one.
